Heartburn can be more than a nuisance if it becomes chronic. It sometimes leads to Barrett’s esophagus, a precancerous condition that may cause esophageal cancer. At City of Hope, we offer one of only a few programs in the country dedicated to treating Barrett’s esophagus.
Our gastroenterologists, surgeons, nurses and other providers offer comprehensive care, from screening and diagnosis to monitoring and treatment. Your care is in expert hands with our team.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) is now City of Hope®, joining forces to expand patient access to personalized, comprehensive cancer care.
At our program for Barrett's esophagus, you'll find:
Our board-certified gastroenterologists, surgeons, pathologists and nurses are experts with decades of experience in caring for people with Barrett's esophagus. We offer an evidence-based, personalized approach, tailoring our services and treatments to your individual needs.
Our comprehensive services and treatments range from medications and lifestyle changes to state-of-the-art endoscopic, surgical and nonsurgical techniques. We focus on care that's designed to help relieve your symptoms and prevent esophageal cancer or detect it as early as possible.
City of Hope combines comprehensive diagnostic services and treatment with a healing environment to support the whole person. We're dedicated to the Mother Standard® of care, treating you with compassion, dignity and respect—like we'd want our own families to be treated.
If Barrett's esophagus progresses to esophageal cancer, your care will move seamlessly to our Gastrointestinal (GI) Center in the same location. You'll receive your care all under one roof, whether you're in our hospitals in Chicago, Atlanta or Phoenix. There, our multidisciplinary team of cancer experts will develop a comprehensive, personalized care plan to meet your needs and treatment goals.
If you have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), also called acid reflux, it may progress to Barrett's esophagus. At City of Hope, our expert team provides comprehensive care to help relieve symptoms, prevent progression to cancer and detect changes as early as possible.
