Our hospitals and Outpatient Care Centers accept a wide range of insurance plans. We can start the insurance verification process immediately for prospective patients by obtaining your benefits information and reaching out to your insurance plan provider.
To get started or to find out more about becoming a patient, call us at 888-552-6760 or chat online with an Oncology Information Specialist.
We work with a variety of insurance providers, including commercial insurance plans such as employer-sponsored group plans, individual policies and private insurance purchased through the health insurance marketplaces established by the Affordable Care Act. Most City of Hope facilities also work with Medicare and Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage HMOs and PPOs) and, in some cases, Medicaid. Additionally, we accept some U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and TRICARE plans.
Because of the complexity involved in how insurance plans are designed, the best way to understand your coverage at a City of Hope hospital or Outpatient Care Center is to contact one of our Oncology Information Specialists.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a City of Hope patient, contact us to start the insurance verification process. After we receive your insurance policy details, we will perform a preliminary verification to evaluate how your insurance plan benefits might work and, if possible, schedule an appointment—all during the same call. If we need to perform further research, we will get back to you within 24 hours. Once your benefits have been confirmed, an Oncology Information Specialist will review the details of your insurance plan’s coverage and answer your questions.
If we can successfully confirm how your benefits will work at City of Hope and you are interested in coming to one of our hospitals or Outpatient Care Centers for a consultation or to start treatment, we will schedule your first appointment. If you are traveling from outside the area, our travel coordination team will assist you in making those arrangements.

If your insurance plan was not approved at the City of Hope location of your choice, we can explore whether your benefits may be valid at another City of Hope hospital or Outpatient Care Center. If your insurance plan works with another City of Hope location and you decide to come for a consultation, we’ll let you know how we may be able to assist you with travel arrangements.
Most insurance companies require pre-certification before your first City of Hope appointment. Pre-certification involves getting pre-approval from your insurance plan for specific services. Our representatives will attempt to complete the pre-certification process on your behalf.
City of Hope will bill your insurance plan for your visits and treatments, and you will be responsible for any co-pays, coinsurance or deductibles and amounts not paid by your insurance plan. Throughout your treatment, our representatives will assist you in resolving insurance or payment-related issues.
