About Me

Monzr M. Al Malki, M.D., is a hematologist/oncologist and professor in the Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. Dr. Al Malki also serves as director of both the Unrelated Donor Bone Marrow Transplant and Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant programs.

Dr. Al Malki is dedicated to expanding access to stem cell transplant options for blood cancer patients without a donor match and for patients in underserved populations, including older adults, minorities and those with complex hematologic malignancies. His research supports these goals by focusing on the use of mismatched related and unrelated donors and developing strategies to make mismatched transplants safer, including both in-vivo and ex-vivo T cell depletion.

Dr. Al Malki earned his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in Syria. He then completed his internal medicine residency and internship at Cleveland Clinic’s Huron Hospital in East Cleveland, Ohio, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Boston University’s Roger Williams Medical Center and a fellowship in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at City of Hope. He also conducted postgraduate research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Al Malki is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Additionally, he is an inspector-trainee with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
