Mohammad Eghtedari, M.D., Ph.D., is a clinical professor and the section chief of women’s imaging in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. A dedicated researcher and clinician, Dr. Eghtedari has more than two decades of experience working with cancer patients and conducting leading-edge biomedical research on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. He specializes in challenging breast biopsies and complex localizations, especially in those with recurrent breast cancer. He has expertise in various diagnostic imaging modalities such as contrast-enhanced mammography, tomosynthesis, ultrasound, MRI and breast-specific gamma imaging.Â
Dr. Eghtadari earned his medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran and his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He then completed a surgery internship at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, an National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded radiology research residency at the University of California, San Diego, and a breast imaging fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Dr. Eghtedari is a physician-scholar with a strong commitment to research, which is evident in his more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. He has been a member of the breast cancer screening committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network®, an organization that defines national guidelines for breast cancer screening and is a current member of the prevention committee in the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). He has presented his research in the United States, Iran and China.
