Nurse Practitioner, City of Hope Atlanta
I joined City of Hope to be part of a compassionate team.
Kristie Buchanan joined City of Hope Atlanta. As a Nurse Practitioner in the Intensive Care Unit, Buchanan is focused on helping patients recover from critical illness.
Buchanan began her career at City of Hope as a registered nurse in February 2015. She continued her education and received a certification as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In October 2016, she transitioned into her current role. Buchanan works with an integrative team to actively monitor and treat acutely ill patients facing life-threatening conditions.
Buchanan is involved in taking care of patients recovering from a critical illness or surgery. “As a team member in the ICU, I am highly aware of everything that is going on with my patients,” says Buchanan. “I actively monitor and work closely with my patients to anticipate and manage symptoms and side effects. My hope is to improve their quality of life and help them meet their healthcare goals.”
Buchanan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, Illinois. She went on to earn a master’s degree in science focused on nurse practitioner studies from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Outside of City of Hope, Buchanan loves to travel with her husband and enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and her three dogs.
