Khaled Abouelezz, MD, MEd, is a Medical Oncologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix, where he specializes in innovative treatments for gastrointestinal cancer while providing patients with compassionate palliative care during their cancer journeys.
In his clinical work at City of Hope Phoenix, Dr. Abouelezz focuses on treating a wide range of gastrointestinal cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma, esophageal cancer, pancreatic and biliary cancer and colon and anal cancer.
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, palliative medicine and medical oncology, Dr. Abouelezz is a dedicated physician-scholar with multiple peer-reviewed publications to his name. He has also collaborated on numerous clinical trials and is currently principal investigator for a trial studying new therapies for metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Abouelezz earned his medical degree at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and also holds a master’s degree in Education in health professions from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and two fellowships – one in hospice and palliative medicine at the University of Miami in Florida and one in hematology and oncology at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.
Outside of City of Hope, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys swimming and skydiving.
