About Me

Karla Olmedo, M.D., is a rising star in hematology/oncology. The co-author of clinical research studies and review articles published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine, Blood, and Rutgers University Press, she now contributes to the distinguished bench of expertise at City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center.

Dr. Olmedo is driven by the pursuit of advances in immunology and the promise of cell therapy in effectively fighting cancer. She is equally interested in ensuring care is equitably delivered, and, as a Spanish-speaking physician, she is especially motivated to serve and provide vital cancer education and treatment to the Latino community.

With strong ties to Southern California, Dr. Olmedo has a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the University of California Riverside. She obtained her medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at Riverside Community Hospital/UCR-SOM and a hematology/oncology fellowship at University of California Irvine.

Dr. Olmedo has published on a range of topics related to blood cancers and patient care. She has also presented on blood cancers, blood transfusion processes, and blood utilization to the American College of Physicians and Society of Hospital Medicine, among other distinguished organizations.

Having had the opportunity to engage in a research project with City of Hope faculty members, she is now proud to be part of City of Hope Orange County's medical staff. “I want my patients to feel at ease, knowing that they are our top priority and that they will be receiving the best care,” Dr. Olmedo says.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
