About Me

Joshua G. Cohen, M.D., is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist committed to delivering compassionate and exceptional care to his patients at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Cancer Center. Specializing in surgical cytoreduction of cancer and minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery, Dr. Cohen tailors treatment plans for each patient, combining surgery with comprehensive management of gynecologic cancers. He also focuses on patients with genetic risks for cancer, ensuring a personalized and well-rounded approach to care. Dr. Cohen believes in empowering patients to actively participate in their medical decisions, fostering a supportive environment that enhances both cancer care and quality of life. 

Recognized by Los Angeles Magazine as one of L.A.’s Top Doctors and as a Southern California Super Doctor, Dr. Cohen serves as the Medical Director of the Gynecologic Cancer Program at the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center at City of Hope Orange County, where he oversees the care of patients with ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. 

Dr. Cohen earned his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, followed by an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, where he was honored with multiple teaching awards. He completed his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Cohen also pursued advanced research training at the National Institutes of Health's Clinical Research Training Program and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at UCLA. 

A dedicated researcher with over thirty peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Cohen leads studies focused on improving care and outcomes for gynecologic cancer patients. Before joining City of Hope, he directed the gynecologic oncology fellowship program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons. 

Raised in Orange County, Dr. Cohen is proud to provide care in the community where he grew up. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and fraternal twins.
