About Me
I am honored to be a part of an outstanding group of people that provides cutting-edge research and treatment.”

Javier Arias-Stella III, M.D. carries a famous name and formidable legacy.

His grandfather, a renowned pathologist who served as Peru's health minister and foreign minister, discovered the “Arias-Stella phenomenon” which explained that a reaction previously misdiagnosed as cancer was actually a normal reaction of hormones in the placenta. Dr. Arias Stella's father is CEO of the Arias-Stella Institute, the largest pathology lab in Peru.

Dr. Arias-Stella inherited his family's fascination with pathology. “I am passionate about surgical and molecular pathology,” he says, “because it helps in understanding the pathophysiology of diseases and our input can help patients in diagnosis and management.”

Educated in Peru and the U.S., Dr. Arias-Stella earned his medical degree at Universidad de San Martin de Porres in Lima. He continued his training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
