About Me
For Jason Salsamendi, M.D., patient care is a partnership where his role is to help people make informed decisions that best meet their needs. He followed his passion into interventional radiology in the field’s early days, when he was in medical school, after seeing the way doctors could seamlessly and artfully bring together leading-edge technology and established aspects of medical care.

Dr. Salsamendi is excited to offer patients at Lennar Foundation Cancer Center at City of Hope Orange County the best in leading-edge, gentler procedures such as ultrasound-guided biopsies, radioembolizations for tumors in the liver, kyphoplasty for spinal injuries and procedures for vascular malformation.

His medical training took place at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he pursued a combined, seven-year bachelor’s and M.D. curriculum. Dr. Salsamendi completed his residency in radiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was chief resident, then became a fellow in interventional radiology at New York University.

Dr. Salsamendi joined City of Hope from Kaiser Permanente Riverside in California. Before that, he was on the faculty at the University of Miami, where he received the Department of Surgery Chief Resident Appreciation Teaching Award. His research addressing vascular disease has been funded by the JDRF and has yielded nearly 90 journal articles, book chapters, abstracts and case studies.

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Salsamendi enjoys spending time away from the clinic gardening and going on adventures with his wife and two children — whether that means biking, skateboarding, camping, hiking, or playing tennis and basketball.
Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
