In January 2020, Dr. Fadi Makdesi joined City of Hope in Phoenix, Arizona. As a Hospitalist, Dr. Makdesi provides care for patients requiring hospitalization for medical issues that may have interrupted cancer treatment. He is dedicated to exploring available treatment options to help patients safely resume their cancer treatment. “My goal is to help patients feel better and then transition out of the hospital and back to their lives,” says Dr. Makdesi.
At City of Hope, Dr. Makdesi evaluates and treats inpatients at the hospital who may be suffering from injury, illness or treatment complications. He helps coordinate patients’ general care and sees that their medical needs are continually met. Dr. Makdesi keeps patients and their families informed throughout the treatment journey.
“At City of Hope, we truly listen to patients and work collaboratively as a team,” says Dr. Makdesi. “Working in one central location, the multidisciplinary team has the opportunity to discuss our patients daily and work together to positively impact their treatment plan.”
Dr. Makdesi earned a medical degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria. He completed a residency in internal medicine at University of Tennessee, College of Medicine in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Throughout his career, Dr. Makdesi has completed several research publications and presentations.
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Makdesi has practiced in a variety of health care settings since 2009. He is an active member of professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Makdesi is married with two young boys. He enjoys oil painting and outdoor activities, such as hiking and biking.
