About Me

As a Nurse Practitioner on the surgical oncology team, Edward Dankyi believes in the patient-centered care that City of Hope provides. Dankyi joined City of Hope Atlanta in August 2016.

As part of the surgical team, Dankyi is involved in recommending, educating and providing care to patients based on their cancer type and personal preferences. “I work with the inpatient surgical oncology team providing postoperative care to patients coping with various types of cancers,” says Dankyi. “I educate patients and their families on what to expect postoperatively in terms of recovery process, pain control, nutrition and physical activities.”

Dankyi earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the Virginia Commonwealth University. He then obtained a Registered Nurse Diploma from Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing in Richmond, Virginia. Dankyi earned a second Bachelor of Science degree, this time in nursing from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. After years of experience as a registered nurse, he went on to earn a master’s degree in nursing with a specialty as an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner from University of Virginia. Dankyi is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.

Prior to joining City of Hope, Dankyi practiced nursing at several hospitals and health care settings. His experience has been primarily in emergency rooms, intensive care units and palliative care. Dankyi is also a member of several organizations including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Outside of work, Dankyi enjoys spending time with his family and being involved with his church. He also likes playing soccer and watching sports.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
