Cancer care is a field where patients need their oncologist to understand where they’re coming from, and what they're going through. I've seen both sides of the journey as a family member and as a physician, so I can understand their challenges.

With nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Naqvi is an expert clinician who is dedicated to helping patients understand their disease, developing personalized treatment plans and ensuring those with advanced-stage disease receive the quality palliative care.
Driven from a young age to pursue a career in medicine, Dr. Naqvi found her passion for oncology during her medical training.
“I saw that the field was constantly growing, expanding and improving, and as a lifelong learner, I felt that this constant stream of new experiences called to me,” she says.
Dr. Naqvi earned her medical degree in her native Pakistan at Allama Iqbal Medical College. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, both located in Brooklyn, New York. During her final year at Weill Cornell, Dr. Naqvi was named chief fellow.
She was drawn to City of Hope because of its commitment to multidisciplinary and innovative care.
“City of Hope is a leading-edge institution bringing groundbreaking research to the frontline to serve patients,” she says. “And it’s so easy for us to take care of patients in an integrated manner. I know which radiation oncologist, which surgeon and which colleagues will be taking care of my patients when we’re all right here, working together.”
A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology, Dr. Naqvi is also excited to expand her clinical research at City of Hope, with the goal of making cancer care even more targeted and ensuring that clinical trials represent diverse populations in an equitable manner.
Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Naqvi enjoys spending time with her husband and children and attending conferences and lectures to further her professional education. She speaks fluent Urdu and Hindi, as well as conversational Punjabi.
