MSW, LSW
Oncology Social Worker
My goal is to be present for patients who are experiencing financial distresses and to ensure that I am well-versed in the resources available to them so that I can help the best way possible.
As an Oncology Social Worker at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, Lisa Dennis, MSW, LSW, provides support for patients, families and caregivers as they manage their cancer journeys. In addition to providing patients social-emotional support as a member of their behavioral health teams, Dennis also works closely with other multidisciplinary cancer care teams to assist with practical needs ranging from finding financial, housing and food assistance to managing transportation and discharge planning.
Dennis’ main goal is simple: “I enjoy helping and guiding others as we assist eliminate barriers our patients and their loved ones may face during these challenging times.”
After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology at Barat University in Lake Forest, Illinois, Dennis went on to complete a Master of Social Work degree at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois. She’s also worked for Catholic Charities of Waukegan, Illinois, for more than a decade, serving in roles including as HIV/AIDS program medical case manager and family-sufficiency bilingual case manager.
