City of Hope Atlanta | October 7, 2024

City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta today welcomes Amina Naqvi, M.D., medical oncologist, to their team. In her role, Dr. Naqvi will serve as a member of the City of Hope Atlanta Breast Cancer Center team, utilizing her experience to support and treat patients in all stages of the cancer journey.

“We are excited to expand City of Hope Atlanta’s talented oncology team with Dr. Naqvi’s expertise,” said Dr. Kristin Higgins, chief clinical officer of City of Hope Atlanta. “She is a highly experienced oncologist with a background in not just medical oncology, but hematology as well. Her knowledge and experiences will make a major impact on our breast cancer team and our patients.”

Jonathan Watkins, president at City of Hope Atlanta, shared: “I am thrilled to have Dr. Naqvi on board. Her expertise and dedication will undoubtedly enhance the quality of care we provide, bringing new hope to our patients.”

Naqvi has previously supported City of Hope Atlanta and is highly familiar with the compassionate care and values upheld at the cancer center. She joins the team from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where she served in the Hematology and Oncology departments. Before that, she served as assistant professor at Emory Winship Cancer Institute’s departments of Hematology and Oncology. Naqvi has co-authored and co-investigated a number of oncology projects and reviews and conducted a multitude of lectures and presentations on leading-edge cancer treatment options in breast cancer, blood cancers and more.

Board certified in both medical oncology and internal medicine and fellowship-trained in hematology and oncology, Naqvi’s passion for cancer care derives from her scientific interests in a field that is rapidly evolving, and her personal experiences on the cancer journey alongside a close family member. She is highly interested in making cancer care even more individualized and advocating for diversifying the clinical trials space.

“I’ve seen both sides of the journey as a family member and as a physician, so I can understand some of my patients’ challenges," said Naqvi. “For that reason, I’m looking forward to serving at City of Hope, where they puts the patients first in everything they do.”
