Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) Philadelphia is pleased to announce it has been named a 2019 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey, a pioneer in health care performance improvement. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in Patient Experience.
The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5 percent of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.
To achieve these outstanding results, the CTCA® Philadelphia team initiated a number of best practices to enhance quality and patient satisfaction. These included daily rounding by nursing leadership to receive patient feedback and address patient issues in real time, initiating action plans to work on opportunity areas as recommended by Press Ganey, and holding monthly patient satisfaction meetings to discuss best practices, recommendations and utilization of various tools to assist employees in engaging patients.
"Congratulations to CTCA Philadelphia for receiving the Guardian of Excellence Award,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Executive Chairman of Press Ganey. “This honor reflects their unwavering commitment to improving the safety, quality, and experience of care. Their hard work and dedication are inspiring, and we are proud to partner with them on our shared mission to reduce patient suffering.”
According to Joanne McGovern, MSN, RN, CCRN, chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient care services at CTCA Philadelphia, the award represents an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding, and improving the delivery of care. “With guidance from hospital leadership and Press Ganey, nurses on the front line of patient care were empowered and drove change to positively impact patient satisfaction,” said McGovern. “That’s what made these initiatives work and what we are most proud of in winning this award.”
