In 2012, Adrian M., a wife and working mother of three, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In December 2016, she came to Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Chicago, after her disease showed continual progression. CTCA® Chicago hematologic oncologists, Istvan Redei, MD and Syed Abutalib, MD, turned to a novel (new) drug combination to treat Adrian's refractory Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She responded to this regimen and experienced remission. While this was a game changer, the next big step was an allogeneic transplant, which she received.
On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, a few short weeks after the two-year anniversary of her transplant, she met the man who donated his stem cells. In a touching ceremony, held at the hospital, in front of family, friends, doctors, nurses, patients and other supporters, the two embraced for the first time.
