About Me

Jeffrey Metts, MD, MPH, Chief of Staff at City of Hope Atlanta, earned a medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, as well as a master’s degree in public health, maternal and child health, from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his internship at Thomas Jefferson University and his residency at Drexel University College of Medicine, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before serving as Chief Medical Resident at Drexel University College of Medicine.

Prior to joining City of Hope Atlanta, Dr. Metts spent several years running a successful internal medicine private practice with Saint Agnes Medical Group in Baltimore, Maryland. At the same time, he served as a Hospitalist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia.

“I was very happy in my practice developing long-term relationships with my patients and guiding them through both acute and chronic illnesses,” says Dr. Metts. “However, I felt such a strong connection to the patient-centric mission of City of Hope that I took a position as one of the founding members of the City of Hope Atlanta medical staff.”

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Metts also enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. He spent time as an assistant professor of medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, as well as at Florida State University College of Medicine.

In his free time, above all else Dr. Metts enjoys being a husband and father. “Spending time with my family at home or traveling the world together or watching my children play football and soccer are the things that ground and motivate me,” says Dr. Metts. “I believe this forms my foundation for patient care, as my goal is to see all my patients have these same types of opportunities with their families and loved ones.”

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
