About Me

Heidi Larder brings nearly two decades of nursing experience to her work as Nurse Practitioner in Medical Oncology at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago. She first started at City of Hope in 2005 and rejoined the hospital team in 2024 after a brief break.

Larder’s dedication to providing optimal, evidence-based, patient-centered care brought her to nursing as the first step in her career. She worked as a nurse’s assistant at a large medical center in Illinois while completing her initial associate’s degree in nursing at the College of Lake County. When Larder first joined City of Hope in 2005, she served as an inpatient nurse while earning her bachelor’s in nursing at Olivet Nazarene University.

She continued her training there, completing her master’s degree in nursing in 2008 with an emphasis on education. At that time, Larder transitioned to the survivorship support team at City of Hope, counseling and educating patients after they have completed their treatment. Later, she returned to inpatient nursing, this time with the surgical oncology unit.

In 2015, after completing certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Concordia University, Larder became Nurse Practitioner in medical oncology at City of Hope.

Larder is dedicated to education, both her own and others. She served as adjunct clinical instructor at Chamberlain College of Nursing from 2012 to 2014 and led a journal club at City of Hope, providing an opportunity for clinicians to review and discuss evolving treatment advances. A member of the Oncology Nursing Society, she’s certified as a Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and holds certification in oncology nursing and holistic nursing.

When she’s not caring for patients, Larder can usually be found with her husband and their four children, spending time together with family and friends.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
