About Me

Anthony Perre, MD, an Internal Medicine Physician at City of Hope Atlanta, is committed to putting patients first. He believes it is critical to listen and respond to patients' needs on all levels—physical, emotional and/or spiritual. In addition, he strongly feels that patients should be treated with the compassion and dignity they deserve.

Dr. Perre fully understands what it’s like to be in the patient’s shoes—he himself is a Hodgkin lymphoma survivor. He says, “I understand that being diagnosed with cancer can be extremely frightening, and that the uncertainty of what the future may bring can also be overwhelming.”

Prior to joining City of Hope in 2007, Dr. Perre practiced both outpatient and inpatient hospital medicine for nine years, serving the community of Doylestown, Pennsylvania at Doylestown Hospital.

Being a cancer survivor himself, Dr. Perre has a special interest in cancer survivorship, and in managing medical problems related to a patient’s cancer or cancer treatment.

Dr. Perre has served City of Hope in several leadership roles including Chair of Outpatient Medicine and Vice Chief of Staff.

Dr. Perre has a special interest in diabetic management, survivorship planning and venous thromboembolic disease (blood clots). While at Doylestown Hospital, he served as a member of the Diabetic Control Committee, overseeing protocols for improved management of blood sugars for hospitalized patients. He also served as a chairman of the hospital’s Infection Control Committee. As chairman of this committee, Dr. Perre instituted practices to reduce the incidence of hospital-acquired infections.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Perre graduated from medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now known as Drexel University’s College of Medicine), where he also completed an internship and residency, serving as Chief Resident.

Dr. Perre is board certified and has been recognized by Philadelphia magazine and Delaware Valley Consumers’ CHECKBOOK as a “Top Doctor” in internal medicine. In addition, he was recognized as one of Castle Connolly's Top Doctors® in 2013, and in 2004, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 was recognized as a Philadelphia Magazine Top Docs™ award winner in Internal Medicine.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
